Adopted $ month old siamese kitten

by Alex
(Greece)

hi i just adopted my beautiful siamese kittten the place i got him from was a pet shop not a breeder but wehn i saw him there he jumped up and started purring so i had to have him ...ive had one cat in my life a domestic one but he stays with my grandma now in austrlia..

i have some questions about my siamese
if you could answer please...thanks you

1. how can i establish a play routine for him cause i noticed hes alot more energetic than a regular domestic cat

2. i have a sister and shes getting worried because she feels she cant leave him alone for even 5 minutes and she gets too stressed thinking the kitten will be sad so my question is its normal to leave him playing sometimes during the day with toys while we get on with our stuff during the house?

so those are my questions :)

thank you

Siamese Cat Owner NEW
by: Spedie

I got a one year old Siamese cat about 2 weeks ago from a no kill shelter - she was found on the street with her 3 brothers (probably dumped by a bad breeder). I am 50 years old and have had cats all my life, mostly multiple cats at the same time. All the cats I have ever had were street cats and/or cats no one wanted. I am a sucker for lost causes...

This little ball of fur I got is definately different! It is a good thing I am experienced with cats.

She follows me everywhere, to the toilet (likes watching the toilet flush), to the kitchen, everywhere, to the shower, everywhere! She is quite energetic.

I always wanted a Siamese cat. One of my street cats, an 8 year old, died of cancer about a month ago, not to FIV or FeLV, just regular cancer (I keep all my cats healthy as much as I can). One of my other cats, an 11 year old, is ready to play with my Siamese. This is a good thing. The Siamese must have something to do to occupy their time, as they are just too smart to lay around all day.

The Siamese is really, really smart, much smarter than any other cat I have ever had. You can just "see" their brains ticking along in their head. I have already started to teach the Siamese to walk on a leash. She is quite the joy of my life. I took her to PetsSmart last night to "pick out her cat tree". She was the joy of everyone in the store, even the 6 foot tall, very scarey looking man with tats all over his body who looked like he just left prison. He bent over to pet my cat, and she crawled right up on his shoulder!!

You have to realize this cat is more like a dog, than a cat...they learn easy, and they are most vocal and loving.

My Siamese enjoys watching YouTube cat videos on my computer. She will stand up and try to paw the screen, as I think she recognizes the fact there are other cats on the screen. Last night, we were watching a YouTube video and the cat on the screen jumped out of the picture. My Siamese tracked the jump, then looked around the room to try to see where the cat "went".

The Siamese is a different type of cat. But, I cannot think of a more loving, devoted, smart cat, EVER. Love your Siamese, you will never regret it.

Keep him occupied NEW
by: Brad

You are very lucky he chose you! The thing about these cats is energy and devotion. They will bond with you and need to follow you around to give their opinions and direction. The want you to believe they are in charge of the world. I don't think I'm stretching the truth very much. So, if he follows you around and is into everything you do, it's just the way the way of this breed. As he ages, he will recognize special tasks from those of everyday: our Siamese cats all freaked out when we showered in the morning and now they could care less. Remember that as kittens, everything you do is a new experience for them much the same as a little kid. As time goes by, he will mellow out. In the mean time, invest a few bucks in a laser pointer so you can watch TV and wiggle the dot across the floor for him, hanging toys, maybe a cat puzzle (ball inside of a box with holes for him to paw through), and a must for a Siamese is a cat tree. Also, cat TV is an opened (screened) window where he can watch what ever is happening outside. This isn't so much a favorite of kittens but was my previous adult cats favorite pass time of sitting and watching.

This little guy has tons of energy and believe me, if you keep him occupied, he'll be grateful for the few hours of sleep he'll get when you're out running around. He'll be fine for you guys to take off but be prepared for non stop scolding when you get home.

Best wishes for you and your little dude.

Baby Siamese kitten NEW

Siamese cat are very clever kittens/cats. You can teach them to play fetch. One of mine likes to play fetch with the small packs of pocket tissues the other one likes to play fetch with and rolled up tape measure. They also love to play hide go seek. Hide and call the kitten so he has to look around for you. They love being picked up and held up high so they can look around. Try small mice toys they will chase and fetch them. A feather on a stick. Rolled up balls of newspaper or tin foil. If you can get your kitten a cat tree. They love them and it will stop him scratching things around the house.
Siamese love being in pairs for company, but do fine on there own if you give them lots of attention and they are not left on there own a lot of the time. They are very social and are happy with another cat or families where there are people around a lot of the time.
