My beautiful 5 month old lilac point siamese kitten Chino has only one dropped testicle. I have been told that I must get him castrated otherwise he runs the risk of testicular cancer. I had planned to neuter him anyway but wanted to wait until he was at least 7 to 8 months old, and give him time to reach his full potential. I'm worried that castrating him now will stunt his growth but I don't want to risk his good health. I've also been told this is quite common. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has come across this problem, and for any advice.

Show Cats
by: Lynn

My goodness Ann, I had no idea you had beautiful show cats. I would love to have their pictures on my web site and show them off.

Here is another place to make pages for your beauties, and tell about them. I look forward to seeing their picture.

Chino
by: Ann

Hi Lynn - He's doing fantastically well thanks. He's growing into a handsome boy. I showed him and his sister at the London Cat Club Show a couple of weeks ago. His sister did better than him - 3 x 1st and Best of Breed. Chino was awarded 2 x 1st a 2nd and a 3rd. He was judged best of breed by default as he was the only lilac point kitten being shown but it was withheld because the judge said his eyes were too wide and were not the right shade of blue. But I don't care - he's absoultely wonderful as far as I'm concerned......I'll try and get some recent photos put up on the site soon...... Kind regards, Ann x

poor Chino

I am sure all will go well with Chino. He will bounce back in no time. Exploratory surgery... wow! I hope that other testicle doesn't show up in the future.

Update
by: Ann

Just an update on Chino - I had him neutered on Friday. It was a complicated surgery as the vet couldn't find the second testicle. He was in surgery for 90 minutes, and has two separate wounds on his belly. One with small two stitches, but the other quite large with 8 stitches. The vet needed to be absolutely certain the second testicle was not lurking somewhere!

Poor Chino, he looks very sorry for himself at the morment, having to wear a very large plastic collar to stop him nibbling and washing his wound, and he's feeling a bit uncomfortable. He's on pain killers too at the moment, and will be for the next couple of days.

Will keep you updated on his progress.
