coat change?

by Randi Vrecic
(Parma, OH US)

I have two Siamese cats and recently I have noticed that the dark mask on their faces are now speckled with what looks like salt. It has only occurred on their faces, the rest of their dark markings are still ALL dark. Is there a reason for this?

Speckled at tips NEW
by: YoshisMom

This happened to my cat too. Yoshi is 9 years old and a Siamese mix. We moved into a bigger house with lots of room to explore, resulting in adding a new kitten to our home. Shortly after, Yoshi got sick with diarrhea, vomiting, fever, dehydration, and an eye infection. I thought I was going to lose him. After many trips to the vet, lots of medication, weeks later his dark fur tips became speckled...like salt mixed with pepper. This discoloration has happened all over his body starting at his face. Its been this way for about 3 months now. At first I suspected the medication, and then I suspected stress caused by the new kitten, and then I suspected his age. I'm still not sure, but now that I read a previous post here, I have hope that it will eventually return to his normal color.

coat change?

I have a siamese cat that had the same kind of white show up around his eyes. A couple of things were going on at the time this happened around this time: we got a new kitten and he quit eating. One time before when he quite eating he was constipated.

We took him to vet for constipation (new vet treated him this time) did blood work and everything but treat him for what he had...constipation. Finally (appox. 2 weeks later) after blood work IV fluids staying over night. She treats him for constipation. He gets a good enema. He got well and started eating again.

It has been about a year since this all happened and my cats white around eyes has completely disappeared. My conclusion it's some kind of stress or sickness that caused the white to appear.

mine too.

This has happened to my seal point too. Only it is happening to all of his black points. The new color is not gray, but the light coloring of his body. He is 9 years old, and this drastic color change has occurred in the past 3 months. He has had some life changing events in that time. We lost one of his life long meezer pals; got another meezer kitten; and the poor guy caught a URI. I am thinking that stress may have caused the coloration change. Have your kitties gone thru anything stressful recently?

I am not a vet. Maybe because of age.Just like us a few whites creep in.
