Greying face

by Jim
(MO)

Our 5 yr old siamese has a very dark brown/black face. His face is very suddenly turning grey. It seems like it is happening within a couple of weeks. It is very odd.
He eats a very healthy diet. He has not been ill recently.
Any suggestions?

Greying Chocolate point NEW
by: Anonymous

Our beautiful senior (16 yrs) has had her opera length gloves turn grey in as quickly as a month. Her back legs have also lightened...to an ash or taupe. I figured it was part of the aging process, because she is otherwise healthy and happy. No dietary changes or external stressors. I had always planned a portrait seating with her...good thing we already have 1000s of photos. It has been difficult for us to have a physical reminder that she is in her twilight years, but a good motivator to make every day count!

5 Y/O MALE GREYING TOO!
by: TTK

This past summer we moved to a new house. Our siamese, Jack, ran away during the move and ended up having a terrible infection and had to be quaranteed for 2 weeks. Once we got him in the new home, we notice that he started to grow white/grey hair wherever he was black (ie tail, legs and face) I have been concerned that he was prematurely aging due to stress. If anyone knows the cause of this, please comment.

chocolate point turning silver???
by: Katie

In late August I adopted a siamese kitten that was turned into the humane society along with his brothers and sisters after their owner discovered her neglect to get her cats fixed resulted in not one but two unwanted litters. The story I got was that he was purebred (the woman had multiple siamese who bred with each other) just not registered. Named Teo, after the siamese in the original 'Incredible Journey' movie, I was told he was a chocolate point but wondered if he might have really been a seal point because his points looked way too black for a chocolate. Anyway, fast forward several months and he is one healthy, happy, pampered five-month-old boy and the sweetest cat I've ever met. But rather than his points getting darker, as I expected them to, they're getting lighter! His nose is as black as ever, like an inverted blaze on a horse, but the rest of his mask is really light in comparison, even though it's expanded. I've noticed more shading on his body taking over the white, but his paws have lightened into a silvery birch-bark brown (only way for me to even try to describe them) and today I noticed the base of his tail also getting grey hairs mixed in until about 2.5 in. away from his body. Is this normal for a chocolate point? This is my first siamese, so I'd really love to know from someone more knowledgeable. Thanks!

Gray face as well
by: Melissa

My 2 1/2 year old Siamese cat just started his face graying. It has grayed so quickly, just over the past month. He is a healthy young man and I thought maybe something was wrong until I stumbled onto this website and found similar issues. I guess it is a trait amongst Siamese cats?

how strange! i have a 4 year old choc point female. sadly she was run over last month and fractured her jaw. she is fine again now, but i too have noticed over the last month that her face is paler, as if she has cream fur growing on her face!
