Heidi - Lover of Siamese

I have always had a siamese cat.. When I was growing up I had what you would call a traditional or applehead siamese. When I got married my husband and I got the same kind of siamese he lived to be 19. After he passed we attended a cat show and fell in love with the Modern Siamese. We got 2 of them one lived to be only 4 after being diagnosed with lyphoma we still have the other one who is very lonely now but appears to be in good health. My question is ... Is there anyone out there who combines the best of both worlds by breeding an applehead with a modern? If so could you give me a list of those breeders in the Illinois/Indiana area...Thank you so much for any help you can provide...

Hello Terri,

I am glad you enjoyed Zuzana's web site, and if I tell you that I bought my little Benjie from her just from photographs that she sent me when he was four weeks old and eight weeks old, this tells you what a wonderful breeding programme she has, because apart from being a really beautiful kitten he is a truly delightful and loving little person.

Unfortunately I am total rubbish at all things digital and I have not been able to locate your half persian dark girl, nor do I know how to upload photos (!) maybe in the fullness of time if I can find someone to show me how... A six year old would probably be my best bet!

Anyhow, it was lovely to hear from you,and thank you for taking the trouble to respond.

Thank you for posting the site Jarmila Siamese.
I really enoyed looking at those beautiful cats! It was an eye opener for me. I did not know those were the original Siamese! That is really something. I have a half Siamese, my kitty pics are under half persian dark girl. Oh they are gorgeous! I am new to the breed. Mine are mostly only social to me. I would love to see pictures of Benjie!!! We all would!!

Hi Beatrice,

Just in case you are ever looking for a traditional Siamese kitten again, Zuzana Bale breeds them in the UK (google Jarmila Siamese).

I am absolutely over the moon with my blue point kitten Benjie that I have had for just two months,he is now six months old, has a wonderful temperament and is a really affectionate and cuddly little person.

I lost my beloved Charlie Brown at 17 years of age last August and I too found it almost impossible to locate a breeder of the old fashioned Siamese that I love. At first all I could find were the modern variety which bear almost no resemblance to their forefathers, but Zuzana's breeding lines are true to origin - check out Bubik who is Benjie's dad on her web site and you will see what I mean, and his mum is Lulu, a beautiful fawn tabby Siamese.

Zuzana was also extremely helpful with the export of Benjie to Portugal, getting all the paperwork in order for me, micro-chip and Pet passport,all vaccinations including rabies etc.

Dear Heidi,

We had the lovely apple heads growing up in Ireland in the 60s, and I cannot find one anywhere. Certainly in this part of the world, it is not possible to get them. They have been out-bred by the long sleek modern wedge head ones and I have a modern chocolate point at the moment. I think that you have a much better chance in the US of getting a cat which combines the old and new traits. There is a lady in Florida who breeds lots of the lovely old fashioned ones, try googling her!
