Kevin Neish

I have two lilac point Siamese kittens (4 months) brother and sister. People tell me that I should have them both 'done' at 6 months to prevent unwanted kittens, although they are house cats and never allowed out.

They are beautiful animals and I am undecided on what to do. I am worried about unrest and spraying if I decide to leave them both in tact. Would they mate if left fertile? This would surely be unhealthy.

I would be grateful for your advice.

Many thanks,

Kevin.

Hi Kevin
Yes they would mate once they become old enough. Once the female is in heat they would not be able to help themselves, that is the way nature is.

You might try to get one of them fixed. If it was up to me I would get the female spayed. A Siamese in heat is not very fun, they sound like crying babies all day and all night.

Not getting your male cat neutered might cause him to start spraying, its up to you, but you really need to get one of them fixed unless you can separate them during the females heat.
