Lenny my siamese is doing alot of coughing

by kate
(Wales, England)

My siamese is coughing like hairballs then retching then no hairballs, have recently cleaned up alot of pukky puddles, he has always puked- now i know why, will try soft food, his belly is bloated. he is a scarfer, piggy. just concerned about coughing now, last time i took him to vets, he purred so loudly, they couldn't hear anything else through stethascope. Its getting expensive all these unfruitful visits. I have recorded him coughing, but will the vet just laugh? He seems to be a bit of an unknown entitiy up here in the welsh hills...

Cough NEW

Definitely if the coughing is due to hairballs, frequent brushing with treatment helps. However if its not due to hairballs, I would request a x-ray. I know that they can be expensive but it can tell a lot. My baby had lung cancer which is very rare for cats but you never know.

COughing NEW

Hi there,

Firstly if the cough is due to hairball, then this needs to be treated. Once treated and the cough continues, then the coughing is due to something else and this will need to be ascertained what it is. Can you get a second opinion,? as a lot of vets are very afraid of pedigree animals.

Hope this helps.
