OLD SIAMESE

We have a 13yr. old Siamese male that started abnormal hair loss about 2-3 months ago and getting worse as time passes. He also does not clean himself anymore. We also have 3 other cats, all male (The Siamese is the Alpha cat & very aloof), and two dogs. We do not have a flea problem. What would be a cause for the sudden heavy shedding.

Hi there,

13 years of age is old but it is not that old, these pedigree cats can live up to 20 years of age, if cared for properly. I don't know what this could be, have you had him tested for ring worm? that is a likely problem or there could be some hormonal or chemical imbalance, the best thing to do is to take him to your vet and have him properly examined and a diagnosis made.
