Siamese and allergies

by Kris
(Villa Park)

We rescued a Siamese/tabby mix kitten. He has always had a weepy eye and now has an ulcerated type sore on his lip. He has been on steroids and we have changed his food. The vet seems to think it is some type of food allergy. Are Siamese prone to this? It breaks my heart when his lip breaks out. Has anyone heard of this?

Feline Herpes
by: Rachael

I also have a Siamese mix. She was a rescue and she has always had a weepy eye. The vet said it could have been allergies to the fleas she had but then we treated the fleas and he came to the conclusion that she could have feline herpes. There is medicine that you pour over their food to help lessen outbreaks and dry up the eyes some. It is completely species related so it is not something that could be passed from cat to person however it can pass to other cats. Not saying this is your cats problem but it may be worth looking into!

I also have terrible allergies
by: angelina

None of my Siamese have been allergic but,my moms dog is a vegatarian. The dog has terrible allergies to any meat and fish . If you have the cats hair tested by an allergist they will be able to tell you.
