siamese cat will not come in house

A stray siamese cat adopted me about 2 months ago. I started feeding her and just recently brought her in the house. She freaked out, looking around at the walls and meowing like a baby till I let her out. I even had some nice cat food waiting for her in the house but she wasn't interested. All she wanted to do was find a way outside. What can I do???

Thank you for your comment Beatrice and yes I have tried to find her home. She does eat food outside though and goes under our steps outside when it rains. This is what makes me think she is a stray. I am not a cat person but this one has won my heart. Just wish I can get her inside to stay. I know she would love it.

Not come into the house NEW

It is hard to understand that a Siamese cat is a stray. Here in Ireland I had to travel to the UK to get mine as they are so unusual. The reason why I say this is that I am wondering if this cat is a stray, maybe she is not, maybe she has a nice home somewhere and has just got lost. Have you tried contacting her owner or seeing if she has got lost? She wants to get out as she doesn't recognise any familiar faces, sounds or smells and this is understandable. When a cat is distressed, they will not eat so it would appear to me that she is not happy because she is probably lost. Just try and see if you can find her home and if not, slowly introduce her to her new home, never ever close a door on her, cats get very distressed if they cannot get out. This feeling of being trapped is almost built into their DNA.

Hope this helps. Good for you if she can be adopted by you. It is a sign of luck.

Kind regards,

Beatrice from Ireland.
