Stopped meowing

My 15 mo old female siamese got fixed yesterday and now she doesn't meow at all, why is that and will she meow again? She used to meow all of the time, I'm worried about her

My otherwise vocal male siamese stopped meowing at the age of 4 he is 8 now and still can only squeek! The vet isn't concerned and had no insight as to what caused it. I also had a very sick rescue siamese a few years ago who never meowed until I basically nursed it back from the dead it started meowing and talking like a normal siamese! So maybe she is just under the weather from the surgery and weak, give her a week or two.

give her time
by: my2wins

I got my male kitten neutered 3 weeks ago, and it took him about 72 hours to be back to normal. Then he got sick a week later and had the runs and vomiting for several days. So it was about a week and a half before things were normal again.

If she just had the procedure a day ago, she's probably still feeling funky from the medication would be my guess.

At it probably hurts a bit. Give her some quiet time to heal and she should be good soon.

Stopped Meowing

HI there,

I presume when you refer to "fixed" that you mean neutered. I have no idea why this should stop her meowing. I have never heard of this before. Could her vocal chords have been damaged by the anaesthetic?. Maybe her throat is a bit sore after the anaesthetic, after all they would have had to put down a tube to put her to sleep. Or else it could be just trauma. If the meow doesn't return you should ask your vet.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Beatrice from Ireland.
