Strange Noises

by Elaine
(Alabama)

Hello,

I have a two year old black and white who obviously has siamese in her. One of the traits she has is that she is the most vocal cat I have ever come across. One of her favorite pasttimes is to find an echo in the house and coo and purr away as she listens to the echo. I enjoy her talkativeness but recently she has taken to yowling or crying at the strangest times with no apparent reason. I know she is not hurt physically. Sometimes I will only be in another room and she will start. The first time I heard her I thought something was wrong and when I found her she was sitting in the middle of the living room head in the air yowling away. When I said her name she then cooed and came over for a cuddle. This behavior has started to become more frequent and I am becoming concerned that I have encouraged it when I first went to find her. She has never done this before. We have had a lot of changes in the past few months, I got married and so we live in a new home but she has taken to my husband so well, she adores him. We then recently got a new kitty as a companion for her and at first she was afraid of him but now they are the best of friends. I am concerned about this because a.) I am worried there is something wrong with her that I'm just not getting and if there is I want to fix it and b.) She does it more and more at night also and I am worried that the neighbors are being kept up by it. Any help would be great.

Could be she's in heat. If she's fixed then It could be her just being expressive. My Miko does things like that sometimes too. I'll even be in the same room or holding her. Overall I don't think you need to worry to much. The Siamese breed are an expressive type. Good luck!
