Have an 11 month old male blue point siamese, he has been with us since he was 12 weeks old, he has mad, disruptive spells where he climbs the curtains and also shredds the toilet paper or newspaper...is this normal?

You could try getting him a very tall cat tree. Kittens and cats love to be up high. It worked for a friend of mine who had a cat that climbed her curtains. The cat tree may stop him/her climbing the curtains. It may even stop him scratching the sofa as he/she gets bigger. They are so lively when they are young. I have over head cupboards in my bed room and every time I open them my cats start crying for me to lift them up into them. My blue point can also open my wardrobe doors so he can sleep in the bottom. Drives me mad but what can you do.

Hi Susan

My 2 year old chocolate point Siamese cat Pandy is constantly up on our curtain pelmit, after having climbed up the huge long brocade curtain and it is usually when she feels that we are ignoring her, e.g. during a film or when she sees that we are glued to the screen. She can't really negotiate the trapeze like requirements on the wooden beam and starts to howl pathetically "Help get me down" and starts to wobble, whereupon my husband has to get the step-ladded and take her down. As for the toilet paper, she has not started that yet, but my chocolate Burmese ( 90%) Siamese used to do that unravelling it until the very end of the roll, so it must be a Siamese trait!

I don't know what to suggest I'm afraid, but it certainly is not just your cat!

Kind regards,

Beatrice from Co. Wicklow in Ireland
