Eosinophilic Granuloma treatment?

by Chloe

I have a one year old male Siamese Ragdoll mix named Simon. We adopted him from a shelter when he was a little under 2months old. I know this blog is for Siamese cats and Simon is a mix but from my research I can conclude that his personality, intelligence, and build is mainly that of a Siamese.

Simon was diagnosed with Feline Eosinophilic Granuloma when he was 6 months old. His outbreaks consist of ulcers on his lips and sores under his chin. The cause of Eosinophilic Granuloma is unknown but many researchers and vets believe they are manifestations of a hypersensitivity or allergic reaction.

We are currently treating him with steroid and antibiotic shots from the vet when an outbreak occurs. We have also changed his food to a hypoallergenic prescription diet z/d, this has lengthened the time between outbreaks but has not stopped them. We are aware of the risks accompanied with long term steroid and antibiotic treatments and am extremely concerned.

I am wondering if anyone is familiar with Eosinophilic Granuloma and can give me any ideas on possible treatments or ways to further lengthen his outbreaks. I have spoken with multiple vets who all seem to have different ideas on treatment so any information would be extremely helpful.

Simon is my first Siamese cat and I have fallen in love with the qualities of the breed. They truly are amazing cats and have won my heart forever :)

My cat throws up a lot

by christine
(chesapeake, va)

Hi again!

i have a question/concern about one of my siamese....i leave dry food out for them 24/7 and feed them wet food in the mornings. on two separate occassions, one of them has thrown up both wet and dry food. the pieces look whole so from your online article about vomiting, i know it's from eating too fast. however, what i can't correlate is why are they eating so fast when the food is always there? i don't remove the food at all so it is always there for them to eat as they wish.

any advice?
