Cat Urinating on the bed

by Michell
(Michigan)

My cat who is almost 2 years old and has decided to start peeing on my bed. Took him to the vet and no crystals were found in the urine but was put on antibiotics just in case of infection. He has been on medication for 2 days now. This morning I found another spot on my bed. Not a big one, but just enough that the bedding has to be changed. His litter is changed weekly and scooped daily. He is eating, drinking and playing normally. There have been no changes in our household and nothing to cause stress. What gives? Why is he doing this?

New 4 Month old Siamese Seal Point Male Neutered

This is Sammy at his breeders home playing. He also likes to play with that toy at our house. It distracts him when the other cats aren't around he enjoys this game.

This is Sammy at his breeders home playing. He also likes to play with that toy at our house. It distracts him when the other cats aren't around he enjoys this game.

Two nights ago my fiance and I brought home a 4 month old seal point Siamese kitten named Sammy Boy, as well as a 2 month old female chocolate point female named ILenore. This question applies only to the seal point boy, as the female is in kitten oblivion and is acclimating just fine.

Yesterday was his first full day at our home. Whenever we picked up Sammy from his breeder, the breeder told us that my fiance should stand back because he is afraid of the deep voices of a man. She also said before we made arrangements to agree to adopt him that he was a very shy boy.

Now that he is home he has 2 new cats to adjust too. The 8 year old domestic short hair (that stays out of the way because she won't have the new cats yet) and the little 2 month old chocolate point girl. What's funny is that on the ride home they were both scared and meowing constantly, but when we put them together they never made another sound and cuddled with each other for comfort.Although, he did pee in that box on the blanket that was in there.

At home now, however, Sammy boy hisses at her and growls at us, the humans, although he likes to cuddle with us anyways. We have not seen him use the litter box, he hides a lot, and last night as he was sleeping in my bed he peed in it. I cannot understand why he did not use the liter box in two days and peed in my bed.

He is also not eating or drinking very much.

What is causing this? How can I make him stop peeing out side of the litter box? Again, he was taken from his home at 4 months, while the little girl was only 2 months, and he already had a reputation of being shy. I wonder why he was the last of the litter not to be picked. We want to love him and make him comfortable. Please help me and give me some advice.

Also, what is a remedy that works on pee smells for cat urine? Is Natures Miracle the best one? Or is there another one that I don't know about, such as a home remedy?

Dr Gerald Phillips

by Dr Gerald Phillips
(London, England)

Hello. My wife and I adopted an 11 years old Siamese. She had some history of urinating on beds. After about a month China urinated on my wife's bed. She was diagnosed with UTI and prescribed antibiotics. The UTI seems to have cleared now. Two weeks ago my wife took China to the vet again as she was/is constipated. The vet suggested Lactulose 1-2ml daily. As China remained constipated my wife took her to the vet again two days ago. The vet diagnosed cystitis and megacolon. She gave china a pain killer and anti inflammatory. Last night she urinated on my bed. China's case feels 'bitty' to me. The worst problem from a human point of view is the urinating on the beds. Oh I forgot, we have plugged into the electrical socket in the bedroom Feliway as suggested by the vet. This certainly worked but we were rather slow in changing the refill so there was a gap of a couple of days when China was receiving very little Feliway. Do you have any suggestions, apart from keeping China out of the bedroom about what to do ? China sleeps with me every night and there is no urination. I feel at my wits end - give me a human patient and I am fine but animals nearly leave me completely lost.

With my very kindest wishes
Gerald

My half Siamese half Persian Dark Girl

by Terri
(Oregon USA)

My 6 month girl just finished her first cycle. I now realise that is about the time she decided to stop using the litter box. Not altogether, but often. She has gone on a towel, behind the couch. on the linoleum behind the computer. Where the little dogs have gone before. She was very good to use the box until 3 weeks ago when her cycle started. Her name is Daphne, and I have her brother Bailey, [he looks Hymalayan} he is very good about using the box. Oh, she also never covers it up.
I heard today from a pet store owner that she is saying Im in season! Come find me! ?? I clean the box 3 times a day. It is in the dining room next to the sliding glass door in the crate with a lid on it, and I have a picket fence surrounding it and the food is on top of crate to keep the dogs out. I made a Vet appointment for tomorrow. I know Persians can get track infections. I do not think she has one. She doesn't clean herself like she has one. She doesn't pee frequently. I just read the litter box suggestion about using the large bin without a cover.I will try it and I just bought special litter with herbs in it to entice her to use it. My appointment is at 4:oo should I keep it? please respond asap thank you!

Litter box issues

We have had problems from day one with our Siamese and the litter box. We blamed on many things & addressed all issues. This is not our first cat but never had this issue. I know all reasons for cats not using litter box-none of those seem to be causing. He is about 7-8 mths. In beginning we tried different litter & thought we solved the prob. I know at this age if not neutered they will spray. But he poops & in same spot. I have tried everything truly. Oh, in beginning we also brought litter box in den where he was going & slowly moved into bathroom. Didn't realize he was urinating again until the smell hit me. Then the pooping resurfaced. His litter box is cleaned daily. Help! I cannot stand smell or ruined carpet. Sadly if he doesn't stop he will have to go outside

My 5 year old girl LuLu-Belle has started behaving crazy and weeing elsewhere because my supermarket isn't stocking her usual kitty litter - was recycled paper and yesterday I bought Catsan crystals.. she is also making noises and hissing at me and frankly is scaring me which she in turn senses etc....I'm going to try and find the old brand this afternoon, but is this normal?

My 9 month old Siamese is suddenly peeing all over the house in small amounts!

by Tish
(U.S.)

My Siamese has began peeing all over the house in the last few months. He knows how to use his litter box because he has all bowel movements there and also pees in there, but still he pees everywhere else. He does seem to fit the UTI sign list, so I have an appt with the vet, but I'm worried if that isn't it, how do I get it under control?? My husband is ready to boot him out of the house and I don't blame him, but I would be crushed! I absolutely love him like I love my children. Please help me with this!

Problem Siamese...need help!

I have a 1 year old female seal point that has had multiple urinary problems in the past 6 months. She has had shot after shot after shot for infections, xrays, ultrasounds, urinalysis with not a whole lot of success for awhile. I've changed her litter, gotten new boxes, added boxes, tried different types, etc. After talking to the vet we have decided the issue is probably due to stress. I am a full time student and apparently this doesn't allow me to give her as much attention as she'd prefer even though I spend time every day playing with her. We tried anti-anxiety medication to see if that would help, and she reacted strangely to it. My last thought is to try getting another cat to keep her company, however I have some fears with this as well. First, my cat, Zoe, has peed so much in the apartment I'm not sure I can clean well enough to get the smell out (even though I've tried multiple types of carpet cleaner and shampooers) so I'm worried if I bring in another cat it will smell it and start peeing too - but, I'm still considering trying it. If I do, does anyone have suggestions on whether I should get another female or should I try to get a male? And would it be better off to get another Siamese or Siamese mix or should it matter? Any advice would be appreciated. I can't stand the thought of having to get rid of my baby, but I don't own my apartment and can't keep letting her ruin the carpet.
