Company for my Siamese mix

Hi. I have owned my female Siamese cross (I believe her to be a Burmese mix) since she was 7 weeks old. Her mum had an accident and had to have an operation so the vet gave permission for the kittens to go to their new homes. She is now coming up to 3 years old. She is spayed. She is an indoor cat and never shows much interest in the outside. She can be extremely loving but also has nasty moments. The vet advised it's common in oriental breeds. They are quite expressive.

My question is: would she be better with a feline companion? I only work part-time so am home a lot with her. She has met my dad's elderly cat at his house but is not well socialized. She can also become very jealous as I found when I had guinea pigs. Would she accept another cat?

It's really difficult to know what to do. I only want her to be happy. She has a lot of toys and scratch posts and activity trees.

Should you get another cat
by: Lynn

I think that getting another cat would be something that you should do if that is what you want. Yes, the breed is a very jealous breed. I have had two Siamese, and both would have preferred to be the only cat in the house. If you are happy with having just one cat, then I am sure she will be happy to have you all to herself. If you wish to have another cat then that then it would take time for her to adjust. I have always had a multi-cat home, and with time and patience things will work out. I would suggest getting the opposite sex and a younger cat.

Siamese are very social, and they do like companionship. So having more than one cat can assure that they would not be lonely when you are not at the house.
