Home alone.
by: Anonymous

We are planning a trip my husband and myself. We have a year old Siamese that we love more than our kids. My mother became sick I went to help. Our cat (Demon) Luke, became my husband's cat. He cries when my husband leaves for work, follows him around like a dog. Yes we are concerned about a 10 day trip. What choices should we consider. When we're home he is with us always. Thank you for your suggestions.

My cat hates too much stimulation

It likes to visit briefly after eating, then likes to be left alone in the quiet until next feeding time (she is very friendly when she wants to visit though). She seems to like being left home alone and I think she is much happier with about 85% solitude during the day. i believe that if i was home all day or had another cat she would be very unhappy.

I agree cats not kittens
by: angelina diantonio

Kittens need tons of one on one attention.Go for the cats.So many cats cannot be adopted because people only want kittens.

Check the rescues and Humaine Society

So many cats need homes. You would not believe how many Siamese are left without homes.Look for two that get along and love to snuggle. It will be good for all of you.Just make sure fresh food and water before you leave.I say go for it.No one should be alone and this looks like a win win situation for all.Keep us posted .The cats will sleep all day and enjoy you when you get home. You will all fall into a schedule together perfectly.

Leaving Siamese cats alone.
by: Beatrice

Hi there,

This depends very much on the cat or cats. If you have two cats, e.g. siblings the same age who get along well, e.g. two young sisters, they will gladly entertain themselves for the whole day. Once they have their cat litter and plenty of food and of course are warm and feel secure, they will be fine. Remember cats are solitary creatures, unlike dogs. However , you have got to get the set up right at the beginning. They will usually sleep most of the day and then get up to all kinds of activities when you come back. 12 hours is a bit long, but so what, at least they are seeing you every day.

Go for it and make sure that they feel warm, secure and well fed

Hope this helps.

Leaving siamese alone!
by: Karen

I have two siamese but need to separate them as one of them is blind and they do tend to have a go at one another. We leave the seal point the run of the kitchen dining room and living room. The blind siamese has the run of upstairs with our dog. If we are out all day my seal point (not the blind one)is sick! I think this is because she is on her own and hates it. My husband is a taxi driver and gets in most days at lunch time but the days that he is very busy and doesn't make it in we come in to a pile of sick! 12 hours is a long time - I wouldn't! Hope this helps with your decision.

Sorry
by: Anonymous

I know that leaving such an innocent soul alone to feel abandoned is wrong. I appreciate their beauty so much that I wish there was a way that they could be in my life. The truth is; because of my situation; taking on two kittens of any breed is selfish. I was just looking for a justification. I am sorry for taking your time.

My babies are brother and sister
by: angelina diantonio

I cannot imagine leaving mine for long.I am a stay at home mom and mine are with me all the time. When I take the kids to school or go to run errands they watch us leave from the gate.I see them looking for us at the window when we return.Look into the rescues and humaine societies in your area.Put down that you work alot and would like two that love to be together and like their own space. That way you can have cats that love you when your home and love their own alone time together. So many cats that need good homes would love to have you.Keep us posted.
