if you already have a male, then you'll be better off with a female when adding a second one. Over the years I've had several combinations of animals, and have found that 1 female, 1 male is best. This is what I have now and they get along beautifully. Harmony = happy home.

Male or FemaleNEW by: Beatrice
I don't think it really matters, but maybe male and female is better, less fighting and battling for territory, with two males in the house, there will be such spraying on your furniture!
If you do get another male, get them both neutered.

FemaleNEW by: Anonymous
I have two siamese cats. I got them one year apart. I got the female first then the male. They get on great and are always cuddled up together. It was hard work for the first couple of weeks because my female didn't want another cat or kitten in her home. She hissed and growlled at him and even went for him a couple of times. We kept the kitten in another room and bought him out a couple times a day for about 15 minuets. We had to take time off work to watch them both. Now she follows him everywhere he goes now and they are really happy together. Good luck.
