My Siamese Cat Fred got sick and died. Please tell me what happened to my Fred.

by Amy

Fred was my 11 year old siamese boy. He has been gone for over a week and I don't know why we lost him. He was fine in the morning but by noon he'd had a seizure or something because his body was limp, he appeared to be very scared, and when I was trying to talk to him and calm him down he would cry and try to get up but he only kicked his little legs. Within 20 minutes his breathing slowed until he just quit breathing all together. My husband tried to give him mouth to mouth breathing but he was unresponsive. All the beautiful bright blue in his eyes went completely white in his last few minutes. He was eighteen pounds but very tall and muscular not fat at all. He showed no signs of being sick.

I am terrified every day when I come home from work that I will find my sixteen year old siamese girl in the same condition. I took her to the vet immediately following Freddie's death and all her tests checked out fine but I am still concerned. Has anyone experienced this type of sudden death with a siamese?

Siamese Tragedy
by: Anonymous

You have my heartfelt condolences for your loss. I don't think you ever quite get over that.

I had a little kitten who contracted FIP from the breeder (although not Siamese) and when she was in the last few weeks of her life, I took her to the PA Vet Hosp in Philadelphia PA. They had diagnosed her and when I was ready and knew she was worsening, I took her back to have her put to sleep. I allowed them to do an autopsy on her.

It is most likely too late for that with your cat but it is a good idea when the cause of death is unknown. In my case, out kitten hopefully helped the research in FIP in order to save future kittens from this horrible disease.
