Sydney bean
by: Beatrice

Hi there,

My Siamese chocolate point Pandy has a cough too, she stretches her little neck and I get such a fright as it can last nearly five minutes, it is usually after she has had a drink of water from the rose vase! It then just passes, sometimes too she gets it from the blades of grass or even from the pollen outside. I wouldn't worry too much about it, I think it is a genetic treait, by the way Pandy is the image of Sydney bean, he is lovely with his pink collar!

Best wishes,

Beatrice from Co. Wicklow in Ireland.

Coughing kitty
by: Sheila

My "Trouble" kitty has had this for the last year and a half. We always thought that it was a dry hairball as he never brought anything up. We took him in to the vet and low and behold, he is asthmatic and is on prednisone twice a day and theodur once a day and it has stopped most all of it. Every once in a while, he will hack but it doesn't last long and he is much better. Also the Dr. advised that he get a little slimmer as extra weight and asthma don't go well together. He is now as happy as a clam and so am I as he is doing so well. From what our vet said,it is very common in siamese cats. Good luck with yours and don't let him suffer When he is coughing for those 10 men, he can hardly breath. Please have him checked.

My Siamese mix kitten, Roxy, (now 5 months old) has done the same thing since she was about 8 weeks old. She also has a bird-like sound occasionally when she purrs, and snores when sleeping. I was thinking it might be asthma. I have been researching it and cats do get asthma. Haven't had her to the vet about it yet, but will talk to him next time we go.
