I got a Seal Point Siamese from my parents who have had her since she was a kitten. She has lived indoors with 6 small dogs all her life. She is 2 years old. I brought her to my home where I have 2 other cats one is a year old and the other 4 months, they are both females. They don't seem bothered by her but she has been with me for 4 days and rarely comes out for food or water or to use the litter box. I'm worried for her health and nervousness...SHOULD I RETURN HER TO MY PARENTS OR WILL IT CAUSE FURTHER EMOTIONAL DAMAGES???

Nervous cat
by: Beatrice

Hi there,

Your cat is nervous because of the strange encironment, different smells and the fact that she is away from familiar surrounds. It will take her at least two weeks to adjust. Make sure that she doesn't hide somewhere that you may not find her. Always keep her in sight. Once she is hungry she will come out and eat her food. She just needs lot of time, and love and encouragement. Keep the other cats at bay until she has settled in. It might help if you could bring a blanket or pillow from her last home, so that she can smell it and not feel too isolated.

Hope this helps.
