pregnant siamese

by Lisa

i have a 1 year old 5 week pregnant siamese kitty, up until she went into heat she has always been going outside to have a pee.

when she went into heat she started peeing round the house which i half expected, she was then mated and is continuing to pee around the house but mainly in her water bowl and next to her food dish, and sometimes in the sink. we have 4 other cats in the house all spayed and neutered, and usually all get on fine together.
I took her to the vet and he gave her some tablets as he thought maybe she had a low grade cystitus, having taken these she is still peeing.
Is this just a phase she is going through?
my vet seemed to think that siamese are a bit more "uptight"when pregnant more so than ordinary moggies

My Lilly is pregnant..... Lilly is only 10 months old and I am very scared for her that she is to young!! My ver said she was pregnant but I am yet to be convinced as she is not so big.... is this normal for a 5-6 weeks pregnancy.

Pregnant Siamese
by: Beatrice

Hello there,

Yes Siamese cats are very very fussy, but a pregnant Siamese must be fussy out! You have a mixture of hormones as well as a highly bred animal and it is a fussy cocktail. Make things as safe, secure and clean as possible for her and as her pregnancy progresses, she should improve.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Beatrice in Co. Wicklow.

Cat box strategy
by: My2wins

I wonder if you should get a few extra litter boxes and try different litters. I don't know about pregnant cat behavior but I know plenty about pregnancy and hormonal fluctuations make aversions as well as cravings. She may have a new aversion to your litter. Try a finer grain or un scented. Clean it maniacally for her.

A fancy or different box may just be off putting. Getting her a new one may do the trick. Also make sure you have one box per cat plus a spare. This was new info to me as I'd always just had one box for all.

Try variety and change and cleanliness and I bet she'll find herself a bit happier to pee where she should
