keeping a siamese kitten in an apartment??

by new pet owner
(WA)

hi, i have never kept any pets before- only have had a betta fish for the past 3 months and i am really eager to have a cat too. i am single and live in a 1 bedroom apartment on the fourth floor of a high rise block of flats. could you help me with some basic advise??.... is it very expensive? will the kitten be missing out on outside life? do i need to carry it and go for a walk or would a basket do or do i not have to take it out at all?? would it try and escape and even jump off my balcony?? would another breed of cat be better indoor in an apartment than a siamese? and wold a kitten be better than an adult/ young adult cat? cheers. P.

Siamese cat in heat

Is it normal for my 5 month old female to have gone into her first heat? She sits at the door and yowls. Acts like any other cat in heat but she is weird and young so I don't know for sure. We want to get her fixed but not if she is in heat. Also would she be considered a torti point?

Siamese Cat Love bites?

by Meeshie
(Michigan)

My 6 month old siamese cat loves to lick and bite our fingers, nose and eyes, especially in the wee hours of the morning. Is he showing affection or is he lacking something in his diet? Any comments or suggestion?

Siamese cat Love Bites?

hi there! i adopted two male siamese cats from the spca (1 year old and 2 year old) and noticed that one of them will bite our fingers, toes or leg without provocation. and when he does bite, it's the kind of bite that can tear your skin because he will continue to clamp down with his teeth even harder and harder. the other one will lick your hand first and give it a small bite and then lick it again.

i had two siamese cats prior to these who never bit me once! what's the deal? are they love bites or is he biting to eat our fingers and toes?

My Siamese cat talks all day

Our Siamese cat is healthy, friendly, intelligent...but lately has begun to talk incessantly, as though he wants something desperately. He can go out in the yard without danger of getting away, he can sit or sleep wherever he wants, he eats regularly and sleeps happily in our bed through the night. BUT he won't stop whining and talking during the day--what is going on?

My Siamese Cats hides

by Shelly
(El Paso, Tx)

I brought home two Siamese Cats yesterday. A brother and a sister, Beauty and Beast. Ever since I got them here they haven't come out of hiding ;-(

I'm getting worried that they never will. I haven't noticed they've eaten, drank or used the kitty box. I know they've relocated at night and maybe looked around. My concern is will they ever interact with me?
What should I do? I've tried handing them treats and it didn't work. I just hope and want to make sure the day comes that they sit with and even sleep with me.
Any suggestions?

My 6 month old Lynx point Siamese drools!

by Shannon
(Seattle)

I have a six month old Lynx Siamese named Eli. He's a sweetie and I've had him ever since he was three weeks old. He was an abandoned kitten and I bottle fed him up until he was about 5 weeks old and then weaned him onto more solid food. He is extremely affectionate, in fact TOO affectionate at times, and whenever he kneads it has to be on my neck or at my face. It's cute and everything, but he DROOLS when he does it! Is this normal bottle fed behavior for a kitten of his age, and will he grow out of it, or will he be a drooler for the rest of his life?

Cat and dog not getting along

Coco and Dominic

Coco and Dominic

I have a 2.5 yr old male siamese cat, Dominic, who generally is very intelligent, loving, sociable and comical, not a nasty bone in his body. I live most of the time with my partner now but the cat lives with my 21 year old daughter. I spend 2 nights a week at my flat with my daughter and the cat. I have just got a 15 week old puppy Pomeranian who has the most delightful adorable temperament and never barks yelps or whines. I wanted to be able to take him with me when I spend these nights at my flat but Dominic didnt seem at all keen last night. He meowed quite loudly, his tail went all bushy (but not the rest of his coat) and his eyes went black. He chased the pup a bit and a couple of times tried to lash out with his paw (unsure whether he had his claws out though). The pup seemed unconcerned except when Dominic kept following him about. We couldnt leave the 2 of them in the room together for fear something might happen to either of them. We spent all night on tenterhooks before finally retiring to bed with the cat and pup in separate bedrooms. My cat pooed on the carpet in the hall this morning for the first time ever also. My daughter is considering getting her own Pom pup in the next few months and is now worried that the cat will never accept him and may start fouling the flat (he is an indoor cat by the way). Has anybody any advice and do you think its the right thing to do to take my pup there for just 2 nights each week?

Help !!!!!

Are Siamese guard cats?

by Rebecca
(Il.)

My Siamese Cat-Tabitha, is extremely cautious. Not sure why? She is overly social and friendly to people who stop bye. W/me she is sweet but sometimes standoffish? Ummmm??? I have noticed that she watches me constantly as almost a guard cat.
Is this part if their traits? Yes, she is highly intelligent and exceptionally chatty!
My –Big question is; why is she always watching me and always at my side? She is defiantly not a lap-cat or enjoys being held, but I do see the loyalty and feel the love.

Thank you much!
~MEOW!”

Siamese Behavior jealous of other cat

by Carolynn W
(Toronto, ON, Canada)

Minnie and Lulu

Minnie and Lulu

Hello,

My name is Carolynn and i have 2 cats. Minnie is a chocolate Siamese(2 1/2 years) and Lulu is a tabby cat(1 1/2 years old). Minnie took lulu under her wing when i brought her home and actually started producing milk for her and was constantly breast feeding her till she was 7 months old(or older)! They're constantly playing with each other and Minnie is always playing the mother role with lulu. Minnie, like most Siamese cats with their owners, is VERY attached to me. Shes my little shadow so when i go to bed she follows me(she actually always beats me there) and she curls up with me till I fall asleep. But every night Lulu tries her hardest to join in but Minnie either gets really jealous and sits at the very edge of the other side just watching us(i've been trying to involve them both so that this doesnt happen) or she chases her away with some play fighting( well i hope its playfight). I just wanna know if theres more that i can to do make her feel that its okay and i wanna know if this continues, will it get nastier?

Thanks,
Carolynn
