Lazy cat!

by Felicia
(Texas)

I adopted my beautiful Siamese cat about two years ago. He was already fixed and declawed when I got him. My question is, he has ALWAYS been super lazy. I buy him toys and he doesn't play with them. Mostly content chasing his tail every now and then. He is always in MY bed right by my head sleeping, why? Also he will come asked to be pet and loved on and if your not doing it right or not giving him enough attention he will bite you. Usually after he snips one time he walks away. Is this just him or am I not entertaining him enough?

Very shy Oriental Cat

HI,
About 5 weeks ago we adopted a 4 year old lilac point siamese and a black oriental Cat. The owners were moving country so had to rehome their cats.

We were warned that the oriental cat was very shy and only came out at night when the kids had gone to bed, but was very friendly and especially liked spending time with the husband
.The siamese was friendly and sociable all the time. The previous owner did say it took 3 weeks for the oriental to settle in, she got them both at the same time when they were 4 months old.

We have now had the cats about 5 weeks. The siamese is totally at home, noisy attention seeking, plays with the kids, sleeps with us at night, the usual lovely siamese behavior.
The Oriental, I can honestly say, you never ever see him, He spends most of his time hidden under my daughters bed under the radiator and because he's black all you can see are these giant green eyes.

We try and get him out most nights after trying to find him and then unstick him the carpet. He doesn't usually try to run off, but it's almost like he's a stuffed cat, he just lies there and maybe just about purrs after about half an hour, you can't hear it just feel the vibrations. He is also very nervous of sounds
He leaves a sock every morning in his food bowl(I only know it's him because of the previous owner. He does play with the siamese at night as you can hear them hurtling around the house.

Is there anything we can do to make him happier, 12 hours surely in one place can't be fun for him, especially with the kids playing in the same room?

Thankyou x

Leaving Siamese alone?

Hello; I am single and live in a one bedroom apartment. My work keeps me away for twelve hours a day, for four to five days a week. I have had a Siamese cat once before and loved her personality, but I was married at the time so our cats were not alone for long periods of time. My question is; is it fair to; even if I have a pair of Siamese; to leave them alone all day. Especially at the kitten stage. I love Siamese cats buts I don't want to be selfish. I have read conflicting opinions on the internet but I would like to hear from someone that I know is a little more qualified about the breed. Thank you for your time.

Chris

Siamese Chewing on Fingers

by Bri
(Chico California)

Younger w/chew toy

Younger w/chew toy

Our Siamese Cat, Kemo, is going to be a year old and still chews on fingers. I'm not talking a love bite or a small nip he literally will chew on our fingers as long we allow him to. Sometimes he will even fight us over our fingers in order to keep chewing. He was an abandoned kitten and has been doing this since he was a young kitten. We thought it was his need for teething when he younger and he used to use chew toys we bought for him but now that he's older it hasn't stopped. He's not doing it maliciously but those back teeth do hurt.

My Siamese cat came as a stray! She is very affectionate and likes to snuggle up close to me, however, she bites me.not aggresively but sinks her teeth into my hand and holds on. Why does she do it just to me? It hurts!!!

I know she doesn't look evil, but she is!!!

I have a 1.5 year old siamese/Himalayan female cat. I got her from my fiance's family. When i got her i was told she was about 8 weeks old.. although the vet thought she was closer to 6 weeks. she started out very shy and friendly. liked to snuggle, be petted, be brushed; she was very loving. then as she got a little older she started to get very aggressive, she would bite me all the time. I would be sitting watching T.V., she would get up walk over to me, bite me quite hard and run away. i have tried tapping her nose and saying NO, I have tried spraying water, I have tried redirecting her to toys. I still can't get through to her, I don't know how to stop this behavior. please help.

My Siamese, Jada, is so scared

by Jill
(Misenheimer,NC)

My seal point, Jada, now 2 yrs. old is cared to death of any unusual noise, especially the vaccum cleaner and any visitors. She will hide under the chair until she knows its safe to come out. She has never been mistreated or traumatized. She is loved to death. What gives? Can we help her overcome being such a scary cat?

Nervous kitten

by Sarah
(North Wales uk )

I really need some help. I have a gorgeous and very sociable male 2 year old red point! For company for him I bought a 4 month old tabby point kitten ( male) in November last year. We have had him now for nearly 3 months and he is still very very nervous. He loves my other cat but is frightened of humans! He will come and sit with us but if anyone stands up opens a door, comes near him his claws dig in and off he runs at 100 miles an hour. I have 3 children 11, 8 & 8 who love him dearly but if they are holding him and he gets spooked they are left coverd in scratches. He has never scratched deliberately just in his defence mode. We have never hurt him, and he likes to be cuddled until noise or movement around him. It has changed the dynamics in our house dramatically and I'm at the end of my tether really. What can I do to make things easier for him and for my family? I have rang the breeder and she will not take him back.
