not a good plan IMO

If you're looking for a playmate for your Yorkie, I'd say get her a squeaker toy. :} Or invest in doggie play dates with other Yorksters. Or if that's still not enough, get another dog.

Bringing in a cat may very well not go well, and speaking from experience you will have 15 years of regret and hard work ahead of you if you introduce the wrong mix of animals into your home.

When I was a young married woman I thought I loved my two cats so much, a third one would only make things better. We might has well have gotten ten for how much harder it was to keep up with the cat box and personality conflicts.

But did we learn? No. Being overwhelmed by one too many cats didn't stop us from adopting a stray puppy when some youngsters found one abandoned in the street. We took her right in instead of finding her a home while she was still small enough to be an easy sell. Big mistake. We went from being happy newlyweds to being Dr and Mrs Doolittle, living in a small condo which was truly too much to bear. She had been thrown from a moving vehicle and had epilepsy and many other afflictions. She lived about 15 of the longest years of my life!

If I could turn back time, I would stick with small numbers. And not mix felines and canines. I'm sure others will disagree, but from my experience it complicates things beyond what was fun to deal with when you add cats and dogs together. Moreover it wasn't as wonderful for my cats to have a epileptic dog chasing them around all day. And I regret that I introduced that much frenzy into their lives since we didn't believe in giving any pets away once we realized we were in too deep.

It probably didn't help that we also had three children in 24 months, but that's a different blog... :} :} :}

Siamese with a dog
by: Beatrice

Hi there,

I am not sure if this is a good idea. Cats and dogs usually have to be brought up together from an early age when they are kiteen sna dpuppies and if the dog is already 5 years old, he/she might not be used to cats. What will happen is that they will get used to each other in the house, but the Siamese will always be nervous and distrustful and the dog may some day hurt her, after all the dog is a terrier by nature.
Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Beatrice from ireland
